Today we take a look at the Top 20 Shooting Guards in daily draft fantasy games through week 8 of the NBA Season. If you don’t see a player on the SG list, check the PG list to make sure he wasn’t included there. Player rankings and their per game fantasy scoring:

1. Dwyane Wade (40.9)
2 Kobe Bryant (39.6)
3. Monta Ellis (35.8)
4. Joe Johnson (31.4)
5. Brandon Roy (30.8)
6. Vince Carter (27.9)
7. Jason Richardson (24.9)
8. Eric Gordon (24.8)
9. O.J. Mayo (24.4)
10. Chris Douglas-Roberts (24.1)
11. Ben Gordon (24.0)
12. Larry Hughes (23.8)
13. John Salmons (23.1)
14. Ray Allen (22.2)
15. Jamal Crawford (21.9)
16. Manu Ginobili (21.7)
17. Ronnie Brewer (21.6)
18. Dahntay Jones (21.1)
19. Courtney Lee (20.7)
20. Anthony Morrow (20.2)

The top of the draft rankings pretty much look like what you would expect. The highest ranking surprise is Chris Douglas-Roberts at number 10. He has been playing well of late and with a coaching change he could keep his ranking. Larry Hughes at number 12 is also a bit of a surprise, but Hughes is wildly inconsistent.

On the downside, Ben Gordon should rank higher but he has been fighting some injury problems. Same with Manu Ginobili, although he has been starting to put up some good performances lately. Dahntay Jones is dealing with some injury problems and missed most of last night’s game, he could slide out of the top 20 soon.

I’ll take a look at the Small Forward position on Wednesday.

There are 7 games on the schedule for Monday night. There are several injuries to consider tonight when setting your lineups:

Ryan Gomes is out with an ankle problem.

Andrei Kirilenko will return from back problems, but keep him benched until we see how long he can go. If he does start then he really makes starting Wes Matthews a tough decision.

Dahntay Jones is questionable with a hip injury. Brandon Rush may get more minutes.

Allen Iverson is questionable after having fluid drained from his knee. Jrue Holiday could see more time if Iverson can’t go.

Vince Carter missed practice on Sunday with stomach virus. He is also dealing with some knee soreness. He makes a risky start on Monday. JJ Redick gains some value of Carter can’t go.

Josh Howard is still nursing a sore ankle. His status for Monday is a bit uncertain. Play it safe and avoid him. JJ Barea may pick up some minutes if Howard can’t go.

It’s week 8 in the NBA and player values are starting to emerge with a large enough sample size to have some meaning. Let’s take a look at the top 20 daily draft fantasy point guards and their per game average based on standard cash game scoring for games through December 14, 2009

1. Chris Paul (37.3)
2. Deron Williams (33.4)
3. Tyreke Evans (30.8)
4. Brandon Jennings (30.6)
5. Gilbert Arenas (30.3)
6. Baron Davis (29.4)
7. Steve Nash (29.1)
8. Rajon Rondo (28.4)
9. Rodney Stuckey (28.3)
10. Russell Westbrook (26.9)
11. Chauncey Billups (26.7)
12. Devin Harris (26.6)
13. Mo Williams (25.7)
14. Jason Kidd (24.9)
15. Derrick Rose (24.1)
16. Jason Terry (23.9)
17. Tony Parker (23.6)
18. Aaron Brooks (23.3)
19. Raymond Felton (22.1)
20. Beno Udrih (20.7)

I think the biggest surprises are Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings. I doubt anyone expected them to end up at 3 and 4 at this point in the season. I do think that Rodney Stuckey may be a little too high on the list. When Rip Hamilton and Ben Gordon return to full strength, I expect Stuckey’s numbers to drop somewhere around 25.0 per game.

Tony Parker has been a bit of a disappointment, but he had some early injury problems which depressed his per game numbers. Beno Udrih has been a nice fill-in while Kevin Martin is out, but I expect his numbers will drop when Martin returns and Tyreke Evans moves back to the PG spot.

I’ll post the Top 20 Daily Draft Fantasy Shooting Guards on Tuesday.
