Saturday’s Fantasy Basketball Betting Roster Selections (3/6/10)
Mar 6, 2010 NBA Picks
Only a little over a month left in the NBA regular season and handicapping the fantasy action is going to get more difficult as contending teams start resting their stars and noncontending teams start giving lesser players a chance to shine. Not a good combination for betting consistency. Check the Twitter Feed on the right of the homepage for player updates. 9 games on the NBA schedule and here are tonight’s fantasy betting and handicapping tips for cash games at FantasySportsLive.com, Fanduel.com and DraftZone.com:
POINT GUARD:
- Rodrigue Beaubois is a minimum salary play tonight with Jason Terry out for a couple of weeks. Beaubois has been hot, so ride the streak.
- C.J. Watson is a good low priced play with Monta Ellis still out. He’s got a tough matchup against Charlotte, but he should earn his low salary.
- Mike Conley has been playing better lately, but draws a tough matchup with San Antonio.
- Stephen Curry has a matchup with Charlotte and the Warriors are leaning heavily on him. He could earn his mid-priced salary Saturday.
- Devin Harris has a nice matchup against the Knicks. He had a nice game earlier in the year against them going for 17pt/7reb/8ast.
- If you have salary to spend, Deron Williams is probably the best option on the PG board, but even he has been inconsistent in earning his lofty salary.
- Avoid Steve Nash (hurting), Brandon Jennings (not worth the hyped salary), Kirk Hinrich (injury), Jason Terry (injury)
SHOOTING GUARD:
- Terrence Williams is starting to get some minutes and is minimum salary. Not a bad roster filler.
- Wes Matthews is another minimum salary roster filler. He’s been averaging about 27 mintues a game and you can’t beat that for minimum salary.
- Stephen Jackson has a prime matchup against his old team, Golden State, and should put up a big number just out of pride.
- Kevin Martin is finally settling in for the Rockets and should have a good game against Minnesota.
- Avoid Joe Johnson (flu), Eric Gordon (leg), Trevor Ariza (hip), Courtney Lee (injury).
SMALL FORWARD:
- Small forward is horribly thin today and you are going to have to spend salary at this position. Trenton Hassell is the only near minimum player, so that should tell you something.
- Gerald Wallace is expensive, but has a good matchup against the Golden State Warriors. He should put up a big number.
- Danny Granger has a nice matchup against Phoenix.
- Luol Deng is still hurting and has a tough matchup with Dallas.
- Rudy Gay has a tough matchup with San Antonio.
- John Salmons has been a great mid-priced play, but he’s got a tough matchup with Cleveland.
- Marvin Williams is fairly low priced and has been having some nice games lately, but he’s very inconsistent.
- LeBron is always an option if you have the salary cap space, but I don’t see many cheap players to pair him with to stay under the cap.
POWER FORWARD:
- Ronnie Turiaf is a decent low priced option, as he should get the start for Golden State again with Biedrins out.
- JJ Hickson is still low priced, but it’s a gamble between him and Anderson Varejao for minutes. Risky, but he could payoff.
- Luis Scola could have a nice game against a Minnesota team that is missing Al Jefferson.
- Antawn Jamison should continue to roll against Milwaukee with Shaq out.
- Amare Stoudemire has a nice matchup against the weak interior of the Pacers. Indiana may also be tired from their beating in Denver last night.
- At the top of the PF board, David Lee should have another big game against Yi and the Nets.
CENTER:
- Robin Lopez is still low priced and has a nice matchup against Indiana.
- Al Horford is a nice mid-priced option against Miami.
- Mehmet Okur is another mid-priced option with a decent matchup against the Clippers, although I’d prefer Horford at the same price.
- If you have the salary cap space, Brook Lopez should have a big game against the Knicks.
- Avoid Brendan Haywood (back), Erick Dampier (finger), Andris Biedrins
